BTS visited UNICEF class...4.2 billion won for "Love Myself" campaign.
Group BTS is spreading good influence.
BTS visited the UNICEF classroom sculpture installed in the UN headquarters square and took pictures after a speech at the UN General Assembly on Sept. 21. They joined the violence eradication campaign "LOVE MYSELF" and provided $3.6 million (about 4.27 billion won) in funds with the company Big Hit Music.
The LOVE MYSELF campaign, which began in 2017 with the agreement of UNICEF Korea Committee, Big Hit Music (formerly Big Hit Entertainment), and BTS, signed a re-agreement in March this year and is expanding to a global campaign. This is the first time among the agreements initiated in Korea that have been expanded to a global agreement with UNICEF headquarters. UNICEF Korea Committee is carrying out fundraising and child rights advocacy activities on behalf of UNICEF in Korea.
In response, UNICEF recognized the campaign's global influence and global performance and introduced it as the first success campaign for Korean partnerships in UNICEF's 2021 World Child Status Report published on the 5th. The "World Child Status Report" is UNICEF's most important report that selects topics every year to investigate and announce the situation facing children around the world, and is considered a major indicator of the reality of children around the world.
The report, which contains the mental health of children in the COVID-19 era, paid special attention to the message of courage and hope delivered by LOVE MYSELF to future generations around the world. Secretary-General Lee Ki-chul said, "The meaning of LOVE MYSELF is deeper and greater now that the world is suffering from COVID-19." "We sincerely appreciate the active participation of BTS for future generations around the world and the full support you send to UNICEF," he said.
"We started LOVE MYSELF to reach out to young people and improve their lives and rights," BTS said. "In the process, we also worked hard for LOVE MYSELF and grew up as an individual as a team. "I hope many people will feel how the love they receive from others can be the strength to love themselves," he said.
In addition to these campaign activities, the members are practicing social sharing in various forms. Suga delivered 100 million won to Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital in Daegu in March to treat children with childhood cancer. In July, Jimin donated 100 million won to the 3590 International Rotary Club, a non-profit volunteer organization, as a polio eradication fund. RM donated 100 million won to the Cultural Foundation of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art last month to spread the culture of reading beautiful art books. Jin is a member of the UNICEF Honors Club that can only sign up for more than 100 million won in UNICEF's cumulative donations.
